I am interested in people and their places – the environment they live in; their interiors and the world that surrounds them; small details on the walls of their homes; the ambiance of their community; the trace they leave behind as their signature. Through self-reflection and observation, through commissioned and personal work, either for big brands or small community projects, I explore these elements, documenting people’s character and aura. It is a matter of trust between us projected on the photographs, to tell a story.
My work, thoughtful and energetic, has been published in the press and social media, for charity and corporate organisations. My photos have been used for book covers and music albums, PhD research projects and publications, annual reports, catalogues and newsletters.
Born in Athens, Greece, I began my studies at Focus School of Photography and Visual Arts before moving in the UK to attend a BA in Photography & Digital Media at ARU, Cambridge, in 1998. I had the great pleasure to start my working career at the prestigious agency, Magnum Photos, meeting some of the masters and learning from their work and approach. In 2008, I successfully completed my MA in Photojournalism at the University of Westminster. I have been working as a freelance photographer ever since.
Along with my practice, I am a Senior Photography Lecturer at Morley College in London, leading the Level 3 qualification along with the Higher Education programs. In 2023, I became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy/Advance HE.
