Dot in the map
When you are small and remote, you thirst for contact with the rest of the world. When your place has natural beauty, personality and history, it becomes a tourist destination and brings the world to your feet. You get to know other countries through the words and descriptions of visitors. This creates a will and a need for learning and education.
As a traveller, you are looking for the place that not many have been to, the new and the unknown, the experience of a lifetime. A travel agency may be one of the intermediaries, but this uniqueness comes from the contact with the people you will meet, the locals who will give you a taste of everyday life and will lead you on paths famous or completely unknown.
The relationship and communication between local and tourist is intertwined. One needs the other and one learns from the other. The cultural identity of one becomes the memory of the other.
This series presents many of these places after an 18-month stay in South East Asia and was exhibited in Greece in 2017.
